I listen to Glenn Beck all the time in my drive time to work each day. He does some very good radio voices when he starts mocking people. He can be funny and clever. Sometimes he has some very good guests. He can be entertaining. But it is very easy to see after about 15 minutes that he is not an educated man. He is not a particularly well read man. Perhaps what happened to his ass surgery has some sort of holographic or depth psychology meaning. I am a veteran but never had to take anyone's life. I think God for that. But I know many people who went through the full shattering experience of war and have never recovered. To deal with it you have to believe it was necessary for the survival of the nation. If you can't do that you are in trouble and the tide will slowly and inevitably come in on your soul. Vietnam was and Iraq now will be a great tide for many.I had a friend who used to wear the belt of the NVA soldier he killed in 1968 just after Tet. They were alone on a jungle trail. He shot first. He looked into that soldier's face as blood gushed up out of his mouth and he died. In that moment he saw a look of forgiveness in his eyes. It was kill or be killed and he shot first even though the other soldier could have shot him first but hesitated. He took his belt in that aloneness of just them in the entire world. Later after he got out of the army he would wear it from time to time to remember him. He always said that the person you killed is closer to you than your wife or any lover. Closer to you than any woman. That was how he felt.God help us for what we will face as a nation now. Back in the late 1960's I had family friends and relatives who had served in every branch of the Armed Forces of the United States in EVERY THEATER of WWII who thought the Vietnam War was wrong headed in every way. They were WWII veterans who wanted to pay my way to Canada! I went in and served in the Armed Forces. But I took notes in my soul. The lesson learned is to never put spiritually illiterate, morally weak, dumb people in charge of anything or there will be hell to pay individually and collectively.
